Paintings
There is nothing better than watching something beautiful emerge from a blank, white canvas. One style I use, other than realism, is to paint the pattern that the shadows of the plants and flowers cast. The shapes intwine, repeat and overlap in different ways depending on the light.
White lilies
A client approached me wanting a large painting, but had no ideas in mind.
He said, "Just paint!", and this is what I painted.

Spring blooms
The same client that commissioned the piece White Lilies, came back for a second painting.
He said, "Paint another!", and this is what I came up with.

Warm bamboo
This one was of my first bamboo plants, and I used a warm Asian inspired color palette.

Monochromatic bamboo
Studying color, I experimented with varying shades and values which created some dimension with my standby subject, bamboo.

Another study in color with the same subject, purple and yellow were used to see what kind of contrast I could achieve.

House plant
For ten years I've managed to keep this philodendron plant alive, and for that simple fact, it had to be documented.

Green Shadows
One way method I use to make flowers last longer is to paint them. These were particularly pretty and I wanted something to remember them by.

These hyacinths grew from bulbs inside my house during the dead of winter. I now can enjoy them even though they are long gone.
